Chichester Hosts ‘Jazz In The City’ Festival

Following the success of its inaugural festival in 2006, over the weekend of 21st – 23rd September, Chichester Jazz Club is delighted to be presenting its second annual jazz festival – Jazz in the City 2007.

This year, the festival is extended to run from Friday afternoon through to Sunday evening with events including nine Chichester Canal Jazz Cruises on ‘The Richmond’, Jazz at The Waterside by the Canal Basin, a marching band and a jazz master-class with the legendary saxophonist Bobby Wellins.

Playing at selected city venues all within walking distance of the city walls will be musicians and bands such as Luis D’Agostino Quartet, Alan Barnes Quartet, Gary Kavanagh and Bobby Wellins Quintet with a tribute to Clifford Brown, Danny Moss Quartet, Jim Mullen Organ Trio, Allen Beechey’s Bright Stars of Jazz, Phil Mason’s New Orleans All Stars with vocalist Christine Tyrrell, TJ Johnson’s Band and Bobby Wellins quartet.

Additionally, a Fringe programme has been organised featuring local musicians performing in bars, pubs and restaurants including a choice of Sunday brunch concerts.
