Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour Returns To Stage & Screen

20th July 2007 Print
On Thursday 6 September 2007 at London’s Odeon theatre, Leicester Square, David Gilmour, the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, will premiere a special HD cinematic version of ‘Remember That Night – David Gilmour Live At The Royal Albert Hall’, taken from his forthcoming concert DVD.

David Gilmour will also perform one track on electric guitar and follow the screening with a Q&A session, with most of the questions supplied by fans. This unique evening, introduced by Gilmour, will be broadcast live via satellite to 15 Picturehouse cinemas across the UK as well as to venues in Europe.

Cinema audiences on 6 September will watch a 85 minute cinema edit of David Gilmour’s critically acclaimed Royal Albert concerts, held last May as part of his ‘On An Island’ concert tour. The 2006 tour supported the release of David Gilmour’s hugely successful platinum solo album, ‘On An Island’, which rocketed to the No 1 spot in the UK and on the Billboard pan-European chart.

The two and a half hour concert, described by one critic as’ the perfect gig’, features band members Richard Wright of Pink Floyd, Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, new boy Steve de Stanislao on drums, plus Pink Floyd regulars Dick Parry, Guy Pratt and Jon Carin.

The Royal Albert Hall concert also highlights the exceptional contributions of special guests David Crosby, Graham Nash and David Bowie, the latter who performs unique versions of Pink Floyd classics ‘Arnold Layne’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’. The two disc DVD is released on Monday 17 September in Europe, and Tuesday 18 September in North America.

In addition to the Odeon, Leicester Square premiere, tickets are available for purchase from participating cinemas around the UK and Europe, enabling fans to experience the premiere in real time. Questions will be submitted to the official David Gilmour website (davidgilmour.com). The premiere will be presented in association with BBC Radio 2.

‘Remember That Night – David Gilmour Live At The Royal Albert Hall’ is a 6 hour DVD of concert footage and great extras. The Royal Albert Hall concert was filmed by renowned director David Mallet, using a 23 camera shoot and employing the best in high-definition digital technology, lit by genius lighting designer Marc Brickman.
