Catch Argentina's hottest Tango show on tour

10th October 2007 Print
Tango Fire Estampas Porteñas, Argentina’s hottest dance company come to St George’s Hall, Bradford this autumn with their sizzling show, Tango Fire on 24 October. The show - direct from Buenos Aires - features 10 sensational dancers accompanied by one of Argentina’s finest singers and a quartet of brilliant young musicians, Quatrotango.

First seen in the UK at the Edinburgh Festivals 05 & 06, Tango Fire is an irresistible journey through the history of this most seductive of dance forms. Period duets evoke the glitter and danger of the barrios where the dance was born, and the heady nostalgia of the early dance halls where it was popularised, while the group's modern choreography is edged with the sharpness and sophistication of contemporary Argentina.

As one of the most popular dance forms world-wide, this exciting show combines the rawness and sophistication, sexy yet sensual side of Tango in an evening of unforgettable spectacle.

Estampas Porteñas was established by the celebrated and distinguished Argentine ballerina and choreographer Carolina Soler and they have toured extensively in the eleven years since their inception. The company also features Quatrotango, a quartet of brilliant young musicians, who expertly combine the nostalgic tradition of tango with a contemporary cutting edge and blend the traditional instruments of tango: bandoneón, piano, violin & double bass. Accompanying them is celebrated Argentine singer Javier do Ciriaco.
