Its Wet Wet Wet at Hard Rock Café

Giving their loyal fans a chance to get really up close and personal with these intimate shows, before they commence their December arena tour, Wet Wet Wet will kick off their Rocktober shows at the Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh on 22 October. The group will then visit Manchester and Nottingham before hitting the stage in Cardiff on 26 October.
Hard Rock’s Rocktober, which started in Europe in 2005 and grew into a global campaign, brings some of the world’s best live music to small and intimate surroundings. The series of events support local breast cancer charities across the world, and proceeds from each event throughout the month goes to the chosen charities. Last year’s Rocktober saw artists, such as The Go Go’s, Alexa Ray Joel, Melanie C, and Bonnie Tyler perform
This year, Hard Rock Cafes in the U.K. will donate proceeds to The Caron Keating Foundation, which offers financial support to professional carers, complimentary healing practitioners and support groups dealing with cancer patients, as well as individuals and families who are affected by the disease.
Founder of the foundation, Gloria Hunniford said “I am so thrilled that Hard Rock Cafe has chosen to support the Caron Keating Foundation. We are very much a family run organisation, and we have all in our working lives been involved in the music industry. Caron used to present a television rock programme as well as hosting occasionally 'Top of the Pops', and I know, she would truly approve of 'Rocktober' and how many people dealing with cancer will be helped through your efforts in raising money, in her name.”
Since forming in Glasgow in 1982, Wet Wet Wet have enjoyed a long and illustrious music career, with first single ‘Wishing I Was Lucky’ reaching number 6 in the UK charts in 1985. A slew of successful singles followed – ‘Sweet Little Mystery’, ‘Sweet Surrender’, ‘Goodnight Girl’ and of course the massive chart smash ‘Love Is All Around’ which spent an incredible fifteen weeks at the number 1 spot in 1994.
Over the last two decades, Wet Wet Wet have played huge world tours, the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday concert at Wembley, the Princes’ Trust concert and the Edinburgh leg of Live8 – justifying their reputation as one of the UK’s best rock/pop acts around.
Hard Rock has also teamed up with Dean Guitars, who are producing a custom-made pink ribbon guitar that will be raffled off at the end of the month. Raffle tickets priced at £1 will be on sale in the cafes throughout the entire month, and various supporting artists will sign the guitar.
