Music Hall gig for Amy Macdonald

22nd November 2007 Print
Music Hall gig for Amy Macdonald Scots singer-songwriter sensation Amy Macdonald is to play Aberdeen’s Music Hall for the first time on Monday, February 25, 2008. Hot on the heels of winning the Best New Artist of 2007 at Radio Forth’s annual awards and her new single This Is The Life (out on Monday, December 10) going straight on the A playlist at Radio 2, the gig will kick off what looks to be a big 2008 for the 20-year-old performer.

Tickets for the Aberdeen date went on sale yesterday at Aberdeen Box Office.

The Glasgow-born singer, who cites as her inspiration The Libertines and Travis and even wrote her first single, Poison Prince, about Pete Doherty, wrote her serious first song - Fade Away - in her third year at school.

Amy was soon doing shows round Glasgow – just a 15-year-old with her acoustic guitar, mostly playing her own songs - and was taken on by London-based production company Melodramatic Records. Within six months she'd secured a publishing deal with Warner Chappell and a record deal with Vertigo, home of Razorlight and The Killers.

Last year, Amy Macdonald recorded her debut album, and this summer, she played Glastonbury, T in the Park, and V Festival.

More information and tickets are available online at Boxofficeaberdeen.com, or by visiting Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall in Union Street or HMT Box Office in Rosemount Viaduct between 9.30am and 6pm Monday to Saturday (8pm on performance nights).
