Bureau – By invitation only

20th June 2008 Print
Opening in July 2008 is a private members club set to rival some of London’s most elite establishments. Set in London’s West End, Bureau is located on the oldest club site in Soho – hidden away under Kingly Court.

Bureau plans to revive the ‘members’ club’ in the truest sense. It will operate a very strict members only policy. Bureau wants members to feel that the club belongs to them, giving members their choice of music and their own personal cocktail list are just some of the unique offerings. Bureau will not operate any guest lists or work with promoters. Its ethos is to bring together an eclectic mix of like-minded people. When members arrive at the club they will feel as though they have escaped their every day lives and arrived at London’s best private party.

Bureau boasts a timeless, glamorous and luxurious style with classic modern furniture in a space created by Satmoko Ball architects (also known for Boujis, Volstead and Chinawhite). The rich, striking fabrics used to upholster the elegant furniture dating from the 30’s to the present, are complemented by the Swarovski Crystal Chandeliers that line the centre of the room, the dramatic Chiascuro lighting and the juxtaposition of bold graphic patterns and sensuous materials. The sumptuous interiors offer a sense of occasion whilst maintaining a hint of Soho edginess. The vaulted arches add a slightly illicit sense of intimacy to the venue, the perfect place to sip delicious cocktails.

Bureau is boutique with a capacity of only 80. The champagne and wine lists put together by renowned sommelier Angus Macnabb are second to none with Dampierre Ambassadeurs as the house champagne (the champagne of choice in over 40 French Embassies worldwide and blind tasted for Bureau against more than 30 other champagnes). The drinks list has been created with the member’s sophisticated taste in mind.

Bureau is about offering their members exemplary service with exceptional attention to detail. Tableside mixology will be served whereby the barman will come to the member’s table to create their cocktails. Whilst members are offered table service, there is no minimum spend required. The concept of the personal cocktail menu works by each member having a personal profile on the computer system. All of the member’s favourite cocktails will be listed here, both on and off menu, the recipe will be immediately known to whichever barman is on duty.

The continually updated music playlist will also take account of members’ tastes and at 10pm a DJ will take Bureau through to the later hours creating a true party atmosphere. Adding to the outstanding service, members will not need to battle through a blockade of door staff on arrival, but simply swipe their membership card for access.

Members are welcome (with up to three guests) from 12noon until 3.30am Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 6pm to 3.30am. A selection of gourmet bar food is offered all day, making Bureau the perfect club for business meetings as well as a night out.

Membership is by invitation.
