Award-winning pub announces music nights

11th August 2008 Print
Due to the success of the live music nights held at The Granville @ Barford, the award winning pub is delighted to announce four more music dates in the calendar. The Granville will be playing host to ‘Carter Chapman’ on Sunday 17 August, ‘The Phoenix Rock n Roll Band’ on Sunday 21 September, ‘The Curious Things’ on Sunday 26 October and ‘Kel Elliott’ on Sunday 30 November.

‘Carter Chapman’, a cousin of Halle Berry, is a new British star who is considered by many as Britain's answer to Emmylou Harris. A stunning performer with a beautiful voice, Carter explores everything from country to pop. A journey from Italy to Holland and a recent trip to the USA, Carter Chapman is now back in Britain. Her goddess-like voice brings venues to life whilst audiences and critics rave about her.

‘The Phoenix Rock n Roll Band’ is currently attracting large audiences wherever they play. They have a rather unique line-up in the fact their lead guitarist is female. Irena Bosworth also doubles up on sax. The rest of the band comprise of Graham Clarke on drums, Pete Green on lead vocals, Jim Ryan on second lead guitar and John Rose on bass with Bob Davison as guest vocalist.

'The Curious Things' is a four piece band featuring a wide range of music from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's through to the present day. The Band, which features Emma Cole on lead vocals, Andrew Higgins on guitar, Jim Steeley on drums & percussion and Ian Robinson on bass guitar, are enthusiastic with a passion for music.

'Kel Elliott’, singer and songwriter, plays double base and performs with her band: Kelvin Leitch on rhythm guitar, Leo Steeds on the keyboard, Tom Voce on drums & percussion and Oliver Darling on lead guitar. The band is a talented and classy bunch of musicians featuring bluesy jazz melodies. Kel Elliott has been dubbed by Musicians Union Magazine as “A star in the making. The overall effect is as if ‘The Beautiful South’ were fronted by ‘Everything But The Girl's’ Tracey Thorn”.

Val Kersey, Proprietor of The Granville, stated “We’re delighted to be featuring so many local talented bands. Our live music nights are always extremely popular and we hope that many more will come along and support them whilst enjoying a fantastic evening.”
