Ghost hunters converge in Evesham A cellar monk, green mists, strange breezes and dragging sounds are among the things members of the public will hopefully experience in Evesham next month. Fright Nights, the UK’s leading ghost hunt specialist, will be holding two Ghost Fairs and an overnight Ghost Hunt at haunted locations in Evesham, Worcestershire. It would seem the residents of Evesham are already fascinated with ghosts that haunt the festival town. Tickets for one particular Ghost Hunt to be held at Salford Hall on 19 September has already sold out.

However, on 20 & 27 September, members of the public can take part in a Ghost Fair held at the notoriously haunted Evesham Town Hall. The event, which starts at 10am and finishes at 5pm, costs £20 per ticket. A Psychic Fair will feature a vast range of stalls ranging from Reiki to Palmistry and Native America teachings to Tarot. There are also a number of special workshops taking place run by experts in spiritualism, mediumship and healing. These include ‘Messages from the Spirit world’, ‘The Art of Palmistry’, ‘The Darker side of Tarot’ and ‘Reiki for the new Millennium’.

On 27 September, members of the public can experience a special mini Ghost Hunt. ‘The Spiritus Ghost Hunt’, which starts at 9pm and finishes at 12:30pm, costs £30 per ticket. The night begins with a ghost tour of the town visiting the site of the Bloody Battle of Evesham and the haunted graveyard. Visitors will hear the tale of the haunted shoe shops, terrible punishments carried out in the Town Square, the appearance of the Virgin Mary and the statue that moves.

The next part of the evening takes place at “Spiritus” – a 500 year old haunted building. The Bloody Battle of Evesham took place outside Spiritus and soldiers were known to run into the building for cover as many were quite literally, hacked to pieces. The final part of the evening will feature ghost hunting vigils in the buildings most haunted areas including the cellar.

Appearances of the Ghosts of Spiritus are numerous and frequent. These include a cellar monk who often appears in the shop and is known to interact with trigger objects and visitors. Many have seen green mists and lights in the gothic church room and strange breezes are felt over the hands and neck. Some have seen the ghost of Mary, a young girl who hanged herself when pregnant with the master’s child. Heavy footsteps and a dragging sound have been heard, like a body being dragged across the floor.

Martin Jeffrey, Director of Fright Nights stated, “We are delighted to host a number of ghost hunting events for people to catch a glimpse of the paranormal in Evesham. Our Ghost Fair’s feature a number of fascinating workshops which explore various theories as well as offering hands-on experience with our experts. Our Ghost Hunt is definitely not for the faint hearted as Spiritus is rife with ghosts. As with all our Ghost Hunts, people must be prepared that anything could happen when they set foot inside this haunted and historic old building.”

Tickets for the events can be purchased online from Frightnights.co.uk. Please note the Ghost Hunt is for over 18’s only.
