Ramming Rams - Aries cause the most crashes

Those born under Aries need to reign in their reckless nature as research reveals they are responsible for the most at-fault motoring accidents. In comparison, Sagittarians, the accurate archers, are the most cautious cruisers.

Arians who according to the stars are fiery and impulsive, often acting first and thinking later are responsible for 8.4 per cent more car accidents than the national average. Famous Arians include Alan Sugar and Ruby Wax. On the other hand, clear headed and wise Sagittarians like Judi Dench and Gary Lineker are responsible for 9.6 per cent fewer accidents than the average.

These results mirror last year's survey which saw Aries and Sagittarius again head and bottom out the list.

Peter Gerrard, head of insurance at moneysupermarket.com said: "Many of us are sceptical about star signs but it's interesting the number of at fault car crashes align with classic zodiac traits and also closely replicates last year's survey - a sign that driving ability may well be written in the stars."

Motorists responsible for a crash are not only likely to pay an excess, get points on their licence and lose their no claim discount, but also end up forking out hundreds of pounds more when renewing their annual policy.

Peter Gerrard added: "Whatever star sign a driver is it is important to consider the outcome of careless driving. If you do have to make a claim or are issued with a driving conviction, be sure to do your research and compare policies from different providers. A higher renewal premium is often a sign that your current provider will no longer offer the best deal for you."
