Häagen-Dazs spreads Christmas Cheer in Leicester Square
The Häagen-Dazs’ shop Leicester Square will be helping neighbouring homeless charity The Connection at St. Martin’s this Christmas through the launch of a new limited edition festive recipe.Christmas Cheer – a heart-warming creation combining a traditional hot mince pie, a scoop of Häagen-Dazs’ classic Vanilla ice cream and a drop of Irish cream liquer – will be on the menu at the Häagen-Dazs Shop for the month of December. And, with every sale of Christmas Cheer (priced at £5.95), 10% will be donated to The Connection at St. Martin’s.
What’s more, 100 Christmas Cheer desserts will be served to staff and homeless people working and visiting The Connection centre on Christmas Day.
The Connection at St. Martin’s works with homeless people, and those living in insecure accommodation in central London. The charity provides a range of support services from practical facilities such as primary healthcare, showers, a cafeteria and laundry through to advice on housing, employment & training support, and specialist support for complex needs.
The charity aims to help people make the transition from the streets into employment and accommodation and, each year, some 5,500 homeless people visit its Trafalgar Square Day Centre.
Wendy Lynch, Corporate Partnerships Manager, of The Connection at St. Martin’s said the support from Häagen-Dazs’ was invaluable to the work of the charity.
“Having fewer homeless people on the streets of Westminster is in all our interests,” Wendy said. “We always welcome the involvement of local companies and businesses and the work that Häagen-Dazs will be doing this Christmas, just around the corner from our centre, will really help.”
Michelle Foo, spokesperson for Häagen-Dazs Leicester Square Shop added: “We wanted to try and make a difference this Christmas and support a charity that was close to home. The Connection at St Martin’s provides invaluable support to the homeless – just £5 could pay for a hot shower and hot meal. We hope our customers get behind this initiative and help us to raise as much money, through the sale of our special Christmas Cheer dessert, as we can.”
Christmas Cheer is available at Häagen-Dazs Leicester Square Shop, priced at £5.95, from 1st to 31st December 2008.
