Starsailor to headline Hard Rock Calling

Hard Rock International announced today that the critically acclaimed British band Starsailor will perform exclusive and intimate concerts at select Hard Rock Cafes in the U.S., leading up to Hard Rock Calling 2009 in London’s Hyde Park, one of the U.K.’s most anticipated concert festivals.

Starsailor will kick off The Road to Hard Rock Calling with a series of four shows at Hard Rock locations, including San Antonio on May 4th, Atlanta on May 6th and concluding with performances at Hard Rock Cafes New York and Boston on May 8th and 9th respectively.

“It's a real honour to be asked to play The Road To Hard Rock Calling in the U.S.” lead singer James Walsh commented. “We were lucky enough to play similar shows in Europe last year and they were amazing.”

In addition, Starsailor will be returning to the U.S. for the release of their fourth album, All The Plans, which will be out on April 28th. The band will kick off their U.S. activity with a performance of their latest single “Tell Me It’s Not Over” on The Tonight Show W/Jay Leno on April 30th. Starsailor will also be performing at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on May 1st.

Since their arrival in 2001 with the majestic Love Is Here, then, as 19 year olds straight out of music college in Wigan, they found international success over the course of three stellar releases selling over three million albums worldwide and touring the world with some of the biggest bands on the planet including The Rolling Stones and The Police.

Reunited with their original producer Steve Osbourne, Starsailor’s new album, All The Plans, has UK critics calling it a return to form for the band. It’s a triumphant rediscovery of the over-arching ambition and raw emotional power that made them such a special band in the first place.

Starsailor has also been named as Hard Rock’s 2009 Annual “Philanthropic Artist of the Year,” in recognition of the band’s outstanding contribution as a visible ambassador for Hard Rock, helping to raise funds and awareness for charities, such as Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Global Angels.
