Poets wanted at North London bar
Stylish cocktail lounge Annies Bar is calling for poets to rekindle the literary flames of Kentish Town, North London. The upmarket bar has already proved it is ahead of the trends with its low-calorie cocktails and pie nights. Now, with female poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy inspiring a new generation of poets across the UK, Annies is looking to get bards back at the bar.“Kentish Town has a long and rich history of poetry,” says Maria Connolly, owner of Annies Bar.
“John Keats once lived in Kentish Town, and the Torriano Poets have met for the last 20 years in this part of London.
“Here at Annies we thought it was about time we celebrated that heritage by inviting poets, or even fans of poetry, into the bar to read their favourite verses.”
Annies Bar is at 180 Kentish Town Road and is open from 12pm to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday, and until midnight Friday and Saturday. Annies Bar serves more than 40 cocktails, has a wide selection of wine and beers and also serves high quality lunches, dinners and bar snacks.
