Sex And The City charity chic hits Manchester Manolos at the ready, as Sex And The City hits Manchester in the name of charity. On Friday 25th September, Carries, Samanthas, Mirandas, Charlottes and Mr Bigs from across the region will gather in all their finery at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester for the much anticipated Sex And The City Charity Ball.

The chic event, which has been organized by Simply4Charity – a charitable group founded by local entrepreneurs, Simon Thompson and Phil Powell and former international swimming champion turned businesswoman, Emily Pedrazzini - will see well-heeled guests go head-to-head in an exclusive charity auction to help raise much-needed funds for the specialist cancer centre, The Christie, in South
Manchester.

The aim of the evening is to raise at least £20,000 to go towards The Christie’s plans for a £35 million Patient Treatment Centre. As well as the new centre, which is set to become the largest early phase clinical trials unit in the world, the centre has a wish list longer than Carrie Bradshaw’s shopping list and includes specialist patient beds and treatment chairs, costing £1,500 each. Medical equipment alone would top a staggering £13 million.

In order to reach the £20,000 target, glamorous guests will have the opportunity to bid for sought-after prizes, including two pairs of signed gloves from Amir Khan and Ricky Hatton respectively, a signed Manchester United football shirt and for the blue contingent a signed Manchester City shirt, a commissioned painting worth £1,000 from White Circle Art and many more.

Squeals of delight will no doubt echo across the Ball, as guests are given the chance to win an exclusive visit to Boodles’ King Street store and select an item of jewelry to the value of £1500! In true VIP style, Boodles will close the shop for the lucky winner to select their jewels at leisure, whilst sipping on Champagne. And just as a little more icing on this immensely sparkly cake, Boodles will treat the winner to an all-expenses-paid lunch at The Living Room, Deansgate.

This fairytale prize will be hidden inside one of many balloons on the evening and for just £5 a pop one lucky reveller could receive the VIP treatment, courtesy of the very charitable Boodles.

With red carpet treatment all the way, guests will be greeted by paparazzi and whisked in to a fun-filled champagne reception. Bubbles supped, guest will sit down to a sumptuous three-course meal, whilst a string quartet provides the musical atmosphere expected of such a high-profile event. As the evening gets into full swing, the amazing Anita and the Manhattan Dancers will take to the stage for a showgirl extravaganza and as the night progresses Manolos and Choos will be cast aside as fashionistas dance the night away with DJ John Locke.

In true New York style, the frivolities will continue until dawn at an after-show party to be held at one of Manchester’s favourite after-hours haunts, The Press Club.

The show-stopping Sex And The City Charity Ball follows three previous glamtastic bashes, which raised £15,500 for The Christie and Tsunami victims. In the past, prizes have included signed Ricky Hatton shorts, WWF wrestling match tickets and holidays, as well as deluxe food hampers and restaurant meals. Offers of further prizes are still being welcomed and would be gratefully appreciated to help raise the £20,000 target.

Simon Thompson, founder of Simply4Charity said: “This is a cause we feel especially close to and wish to support one hundred per cent. This year we’re hoping to smash previous funds raised and are confident we can achieve it. Tickets are selling out fast and we’ve got some fantastic prizes for the auction and raffle, so who knows, we may even manage to top our £20,000 goal!”

Tickets are going fast! So to secure your place at the event of the year, to donate a prize or offer sponsorship, visit simply4charity.com.

Tickets cost a credit crunching £45 each, or £450 per table of 10. A percentage of the ticket cost will cover the meal and the remainder will go directly to The Christie, as will all money raised on the night.
