Interestingly, this figure isn’t swayed by the cynicism of age nor the subtleties of gender but is reflected across the board in men and women aged 18 to 80. In addition, neither education nor social standing make the slightest difference: However you break the figures down there’s still a hard hearted third who would choose the financial jackpot over the emotional one.

So how can you sway the odds and find someone who loves you more than money?

The survey, which nearly 17,000 respondents contributed to, shows Sagittarius to be the most romantic star sign, and if you can find one in the London Borough of Ealing where 85% of residents value love over money, you’ll be well on the way to romantic bliss.

If you’re one of the money-driven third however and want a like-minded partner, a Leo in Chester will love you forever if your numbers come up - but they may not hang around if their own do!
