Nothing lasts forever, except maybe love in the UK

A massive 82% of Britons believe that love can last forever according to new research released today from the Fiesta Love Factory, beating the rest of Europe to claim the romantic top spot.

The idealistic beliefs of the nation place us ahead of our neighbours throughout the rest of Europe, according to the pan-European research. Surprisingly, more stereotypically romantic nations on the continent revealed far less faith in everlasting love - only 64% of French and a paltry 48% of Italians confessed to believing it can last a lifetime.

In fact, 87% of over 55s in the UK admitted to believing in love that lasts a lifetime - their age and experience giving hope to the rest of the nation that perhaps true love really can endure.

The extensive ‘Love Report' into the nation's thoughts and feelings on all things romantic was commissioned by the Fiesta Love Factory to celebrate the launch of the new Ford Fiesta. Who better to delve into attitudes to love, than the experts in making cars that people fall in love with?

Celebrity ‘love expert’ Dr Mark Hamilton was surprised by the results, commenting: “It’s been fascinating to get involved with the Fiesta Love Factory Love Report and find out how the nation really loves to love. I certainly wouldn’t have banked on men topping the tables in believing in both soulmates and love at first sight. By all accounts, men looking for love should move to London and start making more trips across the Channel!”

As Ford of Britain's Fiona Pargeter explained: "In celebration of our Fiesta Love Factory and having produced the new Ford Fiesta with real passion, we wanted to delve into Europe's romantic sensibilities and really find out what else makes people tick. Our suspicions have certainly be confirmed: that our nation is one that loves to love, so we certainly hope people fall for the new Fiesta too."
