Over 50s perfect partners

12th February 2009 Print
As star-crossed lovers up and down the country prepare for the most romantic day of the year, Alliance & Leicester Current Accounts can reveal some interesting insights that may help fifty-somethings looking for love.

When it comes to choosing a partner, men and women aged over 50 have very different views. Men over 50 are much more likely to place importance on their partner's looks with a quarter (25 per cent) placing an emphasis on good looks, compared to a mere 6 per cent of women.

What's more, men want a good cook, a good lover and someone younger than them whereas women over 50 prefer a partner who is emotionally strong, financially secure and reliable.

Emma Walkley, Senior Current Account Manager at Alliance & Leicester said: "When it comes to finding a partner, it's interesting to see just how different men and women's wish-lists become, especially when they hit their twilight years. For men, it seems looks and youthfulness still rate highly, whereas for women the emphasis is more on finding someone who can provide financial stability.

"While men and women who are over 50 want completely different things from a Valentine, they can both enjoy a current account that can satisfy their demands, with a package dedicated to the needs of the over 50s."
