Tech tools of the love rat’s trade

Tech tools of the love rat’s trade Forget the seven year itch – couples are breaking up just seven weeks after getting it on this Valentine’s Day. And when it comes to ending a relationship, men are more likely to resort to a mouse click and finish on Facebook or tell her on Twitter.

That’s according to PoorlyPuppy.com, which polled customers after seeing a surge in orders for its Break-Up Basket.

“The days of the Dear John letter are well gone,” says Cameron Elliott, co-founder of PoorlyPuppy.com. “People have been telling us how their friends have been unceremoniously, and publicly, dumped on social networking sites.”

“As bad as a phone call, email or even text are to end a relationship, at least you get the message. With Facebook and Twitter, everyone else finds out – often before you do.”

A poll of visitors to PoorlyPuppy.com shows that there has been an increase in cowardly behaviour, with men being the main culprits.

“Women still like to talk things through to get closure, while it seems men just want to make a clean getaway that avoids confrontation,” adds Elliott.

“Ironically, sites like Facebook and Twitter that were designed to bring people closer together are being used to drive them apart forever.”

PoorlyPuppy.com’s Break-Up Basket includes a range of quirky treats from a cuddly toy to a Voodoo doll.

2. The Facebook Floozy
3. My-waste-of-Space
4. The text Pest
