What A Scoop!

10th April 2007 Print
Ben and Jerrys Get ready for all your ice cream dreams to come true. On Tuesday 17th April 2007 Ben & Jerry’s will celebrate their 29th annual Free Cone Day. Yes, for a full five hours Scoop Shops across the country – and around the world - will serve up any cone or cup of your choice, absolutely free!

So go on, rekindle your love for a classic or even find a new favourite flavour. Yes, the much anticipated new release from Ben & Jerry’s is finally here. Ben & Jerry’s has struck a chord with new flavour Bohemian Raspberry, set to be a hit in freezers across the UK this spring.

Free Cone Day was first celebrated back in 1979, in the original Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop - a dilapidated gas station in Burlington, Vermont. The day was created to thank loyal customers for their support during Ben & Jerry’s first year in business.

In keeping with one of Ben & Jerry’s original mottos - "business has a responsibility to the community in which it operates" - each Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop elects a local charity and collects donations on the day.

For your chance to take part in Free Cone Day simply:

• Put 17th April in your diary
• Find out where your nearest participating scoop shop is by using the locator on Benjerry.co.uk
• Visit the scoop shop on 17th April between 1pm and 6pm
• Choose a scoop of free ice cream from the wide variety of flavours
• Enjoy!

Caroline Simpson, Primal Ice Cream Therapist for Ben & Jerry’s says:

"Free Cone Day is our way of saying thank you to our loyal fans, and what better way to do it than with free ice cream! Last year we gave away over 1 million scoops worldwide making it our most successful Free Cone Day to date. So whether you're in Barcelona or Brighton, Denver or Derry we invite you to stop by any of the more than 385 participating Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops for a free scoop.”
