Haute Chocolate – High fashion food
Forget about London, New York and Paris fashion weeks. Turn off Project Catwalk and prepare for the most important fashion event of the year. The most stylish thing to hit the catwalks this season is chocolate, as the UK finalists compete for the coveted World Chocolate Masters title, showcasing the very best practice in contemporary chocolate. The competition, now in its third year, will see creative chocolate professionals battling it out to create the best “Haute Couture” chocolate creation.
Panels of International Jury Members will, in each country, be looking to see how participants in the competition manage to create subtle combinations of delicious chocolate creations with the aesthetics of high fashion.
The six British finalists have already been announced and will take part in the UK finals of the World Chocolate Masters at the Restaurant Show on 6 October 2008. The winner of the competition will be awarded the title of UK chocolate Master and will be put forward to represent Great Britain at the World Final taking place at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris in October 2009.
Organised by Callebaut, Cacao Barry and Carma, The World Chocolate Masters is the premier global event for chocolatiers, patissiers and pastry chefs.
During the one-day World Final each contestant will be asked to present a chocolate showpiece based on the Haute Couture theme, moulded and dipped pralines, a pastry and a small showpiece from a “Mystery Box” of ingredients.
