Make sure its a flipping marvellous pancake day

29th January 2009 Print
Make sure its a flipping marvellous pancake day Pancake Day (24 February) is fast approaching. You’ve got the pancakes, the lemon and the sugar. But what could really make your Pancake Day extra special? The way you serve it of course.

This year, why not try something different and add a large scoop of deliciously decadent, rich and creamy Kelly’s Cornish Clotted Ice Cream. Handmade in Bodmin, Cornwall, Kelly’s Ice Cream has lashings of clotted cream and whole milk, fresh from cows that graze on Cornwall’s lush green grass. The result is a distinctive creamy flavour and velvety smoothness that you won’t find in any other ice cream.

It takes over 100 years of experience to make an ice cream as good as Kelly’s – in fact, Kelly’s ice cream recipe has been handed down through three generations. Mr Kelly won’t reveal his secret so you’ll just have to taste it for yourself.

Kelly’s Cornish Clotted Ice Cream (1 litre) is available from Sainsbury’s nationwide and select Tesco, Asda and Morrisons at £2.99.

To give you a helping hand on Pancake Day, here’s a little recipe:

Ingredients:
- One cup of flour
- Two tablespoons of sugar
- Two teaspoons of baking powder
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- One large egg
- Two tablespoons of melted butter
- 200ml milk
- Kelly’s Cornish Clotted Ice Cream

Preparation:
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in the egg and melted butter. Keep mixing and slowly add milk until the batter is smooth and has the consistency of cream. Cook pancakes for about 30 seconds each side on a hot, well-greased frying pan. Add sugar, lemon juice and a dollop of Kelly’s Cornish Clotted Ice Cream. Eat and enjoy!
