Covent Garden welcomes return of real food

Back by popular demand, The Covent Garden Real Food Market will feature mouth-watering delights from some of the UK’s finest food producers*, including SJ Frederick & Sons’ free range Label Anglais chickens, Neal’s Yard Dairy cheeses, The Spore Boys’ famous mushroom sandwiches, The Garlic Farm, The Arabica Food & Spice Company, and for those with a sweet tooth, Crumbs & Doilies’ delectable cupcakes and Sugar Grain gluten-free cakes.
Every Thursday, from April 16th until September 24th, an array of scrumptious, fresh produce will be available from the market to tempt those in the area to swap the office for the Piazza and enjoy quality food and world-class street entertainment during their lunch hour or indulge in alfresco summer eating in the evening.
The Covent Garden Real Food Market will also provide food lovers with a rolling programme of unique stalls and entertainment throughout the season. From an exclusive stall curated by leading bloggers of the UK Food Bloggers Association, to eclectic guest stalls from The Urban Wine Company and local micro-breweries, to demonstrations from carbon-free chefs and urban farmers, the market is guaranteed to delight and educate visitors.
As part of the entertainment running alongside the market, Covent Garden will also host ‘City Showcase presents Roots and Flutes at Covent Garden’. The first ever classical and world music event, City Showcase presents Roots and Flutes at Covent Garden, will make its home on the Piazza from Thursday 25th - Saturday 27th June, drawing in diverse audiences from all areas of London with the best in emerging classical and world music talent.
For this week only, to ensure visitors can indulge in the market’s delicious, gourmet food whilst enjoying the eclectic music at City Showcase presents Roots and Flutes at Covent Garden, the Covent Garden Real Food Market will be open Friday 26th and Saturday 27th, in addition to Thursday 25th.
In keeping with all things foodie, Covent Garden will also be hosting The Eden Project’s most ambitious initiative yet, ‘The Big Lunch’, on 19th July. Covent Garden will see Londoners and residents from the area, gather on the Piazza with their neighbours, and eat lunch together, in conjunction with thousands of other streets across the UK.
