Discover the delights of Scotland’s larder
Scotland’s biggest food and drink event is poised to return to Glasgow’s George Square with a jam packed menu of events to keep food-lovers entertained for the whole weekend. Scotland’s top chefs and the Celtic and Rangers coaches are just some of the attractions in this year’s lively annual show.Tesco’s free food and drink event takes place on the 9th & 10th May bringing over 100 of the country’s finest producers together to showcase the wealth and diversity of Scotland’s Larder. From the traditional Scotch Pie and eagerly awaited Scottish strawberries to haggis pizza and Scottish brie - visitors will be spoilt for choice.
And who better to spice up the show than a team of celebrity chefs. Building on last year’s popularity, the Celebrity Cookery Theatre will once again play host to culinary luminaries with Michelin starred chefs to inspire the audience. Internationally renowned Charlie Lockley from Boath House and Tony Borthwick from The Plumed Horse will all be sharing their secrets on stage.
One of Scotland’s most revered chefs Ian Brown from the famous Ubiquitous Chip will demonstrate how to cook a mouthwatering breakfast and Monachyle Mhor’s Tom Lewis will be showing off his skills with some interactive cooking to keep the audience on their toes. TV presenter and nutritionist Nell Nelson will be wowing audiences with tantalising dishes and award-winning chef Craig Dunn from Abode will be working wonders with fresh seasonal Scottish produce.
Also attending is gastronome extraordinaire Paul Tamburrini, head chef at Glasgow’s luxury boutique hotel, Hotel du Vin and leading mixologists who will be running a series of Scottish-themed cocktail sessions.
This year’s show will provide a memorable day out for both ‘foodies’ and families with a rolling programme of arts, crafts and sporting events taking place in the dedicated Kid’s Zone. On Sunday the Rangers and Celtic football coaches will be on hand to encourage kids to get active with a series of football training sessions. Other hands-on activities will include kid’s cookery workshops, herb planting sessions and the chance to milk Daisy the cow.
2009 highlights will also include music performances by Highland Heartbeat, a variety of daily competitions and the chance to sample a range of exciting new products which are being launched at the event. All visitors will receive a booklet of Tesco money off vouchers within the show guide.
