Covent Garden hosts The Big Lunch

With a live steel band, face painting and balloon artists, Covent Garden will host the ultimate lunchtime street party on the world renowned Piazza- the original home of London’s fresh fruit, vegetable and flower markets. By bringing along their own lunches, hundreds are expected to convene in the West End to break bread together.
Earlier this year, The Big Lunch launched in Covent Garden with an edible 2,000 square foot invite. On Sunday 19th July, community lunches will kick-off at various locations around the country aiming to bring the 61 million people in the UK together to simultaneously eat lunch with their neighbours.
Ros Barclay, Head of Marketing for Covent Garden London commented, “With the area’s roots as London’s original fruit and vegetable market, Covent Garden was the obvious place to host a Big Lunch. With the return of the Covent Garden Real Food Market every Thursday, the Piazza already sees a wide selection of quality produce from local fruit and veg to artisan breads and delicious sweet treats. We hope that as many people as possible across the country can sit down and eat lunch unison - just as we will be in Covent Garden.”
