Covent Garden hosts pop-up Speakers’ Corner

In the latest activity to engage and entice London’s foodie community, The Covent Garden Real Food Market is to host its very own Speakers’ Corner, a series of free weekly talks and demonstrations from the UK’s foremost food and nature experts.

Each Thursday, from 6th- 20th August, visitors to the market will be able to learn valuable skills from top chefs and food specialists ranging from innovative urban farming demonstrations and the importance of honey and bee-keeping to chocolate beer tasting and chilli tea-sampling.

The sessions will run every Thursday, with sittings at 1.00pm and 6.00pm on 6th, 13th and 20th August, with the earlier slot including activities for children. Visitors to The Covent Garden Real Food Market will also be able to enjoy the usual mouth-watering delights from some of the UK’s finest food producers, which shoppers can buy fresh to prepare at home or enjoy immediately on the Piazza.

The Covent Garden Real Food Market runs every Thursday from 12.00pm until 9.00pm throughout August.

Covent Garden Speakers’ Corner Schedule:

6th August:
1pm – Tea tastings and a talk on the health benefits of tea with Tea Pigs
6pm – Beer and ale tastings with Meantime Brewery

13th August:
1pm – Bee-keeping advice, honey & beeswax workshops with Hive & Honey
6pm – Urban Farming talks and demonstrations with Capital Growth

20th August:
1pm – Cupcake decorating for children with Ella’s Bakehouse
6pm – The raw chocolate movement experience with Chocolution
