Lincolnshire hosts fine food market

20th August 2009 Print
Stately food will be on offer during the August Bank Holiday at Burghley Fine Food Market staged against the backdrop of one of England’s grandest Elizabethan houses.

The Stable Courtyard at Burghley House in Lincolnshire will provide a stately setting for the free event, which is a celebration of local produce in association with Tastes of Lincolnshire. More than 20 local quality food producers will set up stalls selling cheese, bread, vegetables and meat, creating a relaxed, but bustling market atmosphere.

And, of course, the House and gardens will be open as usual, with self-guided tours of the magnificent state rooms and huge collection of works of art in the House, which has been the home of the Cecil family for over 400 years. Youngsters will also delight in getting wet amidst the 32 water features of the Tudor-inspired 'trick' Gardens of Surprise.

The Fine Food Market is open 10am-4pm; free admission. Admission to the house and gardens costs £11.30 adults, £5.60 children (5-15) or £29 for Family (2 adults and 2 children).
