A New Take On Old Classic - Cheese & Onion

19th March 2007 Print
Kettle Chips No one understands more than Kettle Chips the importance of great tasting food. The classic combination of cheese and onion has always been a national favourite but as always, Kettle Chips wanted their version to be just that little bit better. After months of searching for the perfect ingredients they’ve succeeded, with the new Soulmate Cheeses with Onion.

The new seasoning is available in the classic 150g for sharing at home, but also in a smaller 40g bag – so you can now treat yourself to a delicious, natural snack with your sandwich or when you’re on the go.

As the Kettle Chips chef Chris Barnard explains: “the essence of Soulmate Cheeses with Onion was to find a fabulous cheese taste that everybody enjoyed. Each person has a different favourite cheese and so my job was to find the best combination of cheese & onion – one that would really knock your socks off when you bite into each crisp.”

Chris spent a long time trying out cheeses from all over Europe but as luck would have it, he ended up with two varieties close to home - Cheddar and Caerphilly. As Chris continues: “The combination of strong Cheddar with creamy Caerphilly delivers a really fresh taste – they’re so moreish, you just can’t wait to dive into the packet for another handful.” And that extra special ingredient? “Just a dash of buttermilk to give it a really creamy finish” answers Chris.

And so you have it: two cheeses that paired up so well, it made perfect sense to name the new flavour ‘Soulmate Cheeses’. All that was needed was a hint of zingy onion and a new take on a classic British favourite was born.

This fusion of flavours makes Soulmate Cheeses with Onion one of the tastiest flavours around. But don’t worry, as with all Kettle Chips, they are still made from 100% natural ingredients and use the finest potatoes (we wouldn’t try 220 different varieties for nothing!).
