Lisa makes each one of her cakes from scratch with farmhouse butter and eggs, and flour milled in the Cotswolds, and her passion is as much for the flavour of the last crumb of cake as it is for the icing or chocolate.
Lisa’s passion for cooking started at an early age and she worked as a chef for over 15 years before setting up Wedding Cakes by Lisa Notley. “When you have worked in a kitchen for as long as I have, you know how important it is to use the finest quality ingredients, always sourced locally when it’s possible, a philosophy which has been key to the success of my wedding cakes.
“All my cakes are made individually, and I never compromise on taste or attention to detail. I work closely with each bride and incorporate the theme of the wedding into each cake, creating designs which are truly unique. The lovely letters I get from married couples about how much they and their guests enjoyed the cake is worth every extra hour spent in the kitchen,” explained Lisa.
Previously only available locally, Wedding Cakes by Lisa Notley has now launched a new national delivery service. Lisa’s cakes include her signature chocolate cake and carrot cake, recipes which are unique and have been developed over the years, together with Victoria sponge cakes, matured fruit cakes, chocolate orange and cointreau cakes and tangy lemon sponge cakes.
“Not all brides want a rich fruit cake and many steer away from the traditional tiered wedding cake, they want simple styles which are stunning in their simplicity. I talk through the options, over some cake of course, and draw sketches before we reach a decision,” explained Lisa.
