Gü Goes Bananas With Nü Chocolate Banoffee Puds

Banoffee pie – as far as classic puddings go, it’s up there with fellow long-time Brit favourites Black Forest gateau, boozy trifle and baked Alaska. But sometimes it’s worth shaking things up a little, which is why we reckoned it was high time this pudding-trolley lovely got Gü-ed.

The result is our new individual Gü Chocolate Banoffees. Like all Gü puds, it’s the chocolate that’s the secret weapon – this time in the form of a thick topping of rich, dark, 53% cocoa chocolate ganache. Lying just beneath it is a super-smooth layer of mascarpone. Creamy? It would be hard to imagine creamier.

Dig that spoon down a little deeper and you’ll reach what it’s really all about – the caramel bananas. Of course, we could have towed the traditional banoffee line and gone for the sliced banana approach. But somehow we felt that was just a little too… obvious. Instead, we’ve reincarnated it as a ludicrously lush banana caramel, made from our own-recipe dulce de leche, plus a generous hit of banana purée. And then there’s the buttery biscuit base – if there’s a nobler fate for bashed-up biscuit crumbs, we want to hear about it.

Served up in Gü’s signature glass, reusable ramekins, we reckon these little beauties are a fitting homage to an all-time pudding great.
