Carcraft’s first golf day raises over £12,000

Over 80 people attended the first Carcraft annual golf day which was held at Patshull Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club on Friday 6th June 2008 and sponsored by Manheim Car Auctions. Unfortunately no one won the £15,000 new car which was the prize for achieving a hole in one.
The evening dinner, which was jointly sponsored by Morelli and DeBeer Coatings alongside Carcraft, was attended by 110 people raising further funds through an auction and a raffle.
Former World Light Heavyweight boxing champion, John Conteh attended the occasion together with Midlands football legend Don Goodman who was the comperè for the evening.
The day and evening events have raised a massive £12,500 in total which will be split between two worthy local causes.
Acorns Children’s Hospice is Carcraft Wednesbury’s chosen charity of the year and offers a network of support and care for life-limited children and their families, with three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester. It costs £4,500 a day to run each centre and they rely heavily on the generosity of individual and corporate fund-raisers.
Four year old Jude Aston suffers from cerebral palsy and the Fund set up to help him is going to pay for a three year course of treatment based on the Scotson Technique of manipulating and massaging muscles. It is hoped that the course will greatly improve the youngster’s quality of life and help to improve his mobility in the longer term.
Jim Bertram, general manager at Carcraft Wednesbury, said: “We are delighted to have raised this money for both Acorns and Jude Aston. A great day and evening was had by all and knowing that we were raising vital funds to support two local causes made it even better.”
A further Carcraft golf day is planned for 31st October in aid of “Wear it Pink – Breast Cancer” and the local “Promised Dreams” charity. To enter a team or for further details please contact Jim Bertram on 07917 683 079.
