Anglesey sea salt joins gastronomy’s elite

The Feria de Gastronomía – Europe’s Gastronomic Congress –hosts some of the world’s most famous chefs for three days of cooking, eating, drinking and celebrating all things gastronomic. Annually the congress nominates the five best products in the world judged to have significantly raised the quality of gastronomy. The other winners of the Martiko’s Best Quality Product Award this year include a chocolatier, a cheese maker, a rice grower and an oyster grower.
Alison Lea-Wilson, co-founder of Halen Môn with husband David, comments:
“We are delighted to have been recognised in this year’s Feria de Gastronomía. This award demonstrates the respect that world-renowned chefs have for producing a basic ingredient like sea salt and transforming it into the very best in terms of flavour, purity and quality.”
Halen Môn sea salt is available in the following variants - pure, vanilla, oak smoked and organic spiced. It is available in 100g, 250g, 400g and 1kg tubs and has an RRP between £2.75 and £29.99* depending on size. It is distributed in Spain by Francesc Collell Fine Products and has distribution in 14 other European countries.
Current off-trade listings includes Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Harvey Nichols and over 100 of the nation’s best delicatessens, whilst in the on-trade, the sea salt is listed in a significant number of the world's top 50 restaurants.
“We are proud of our environment, staff, systems and quality approach to every thing we do at Halen Môn but we don’t often trumpet it,” says David Lea-Wilson. “In an increasingly competitive market place where provenance, taste, delivery on time, and reputation are absolutely critical, to receive this top honour from Europe’s Gastronomic Congress is a real achievement”.
