Aldi takes on the big four
Aldi, the supermarket renowned for quality groceries at affordable prices, struck Gold on the 28th November, 2007 at the Quality Food Awards.Aldi beat competition from the big four; Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons – to take the coveted, single Gold Q award for its Specially Selected Italian Stone Baked Romagna Pizza which was hailed as simply “outstanding” by the judges.
At the heart of the retailer’s success is its commitment to bring quality products at affordable prices to families in the UK. With three category wins added to the list, it really showed the industry how far Aldi has come since it debuted in the UK over 15 years ago.

The annual industry event that has been recognising quality and excellence within the grocery sector for the last 28 years. Over 60 independent judges ranging from top chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and home economists through to nutritionists were involved in selecting the winners who triumphed with exceptional taste and quality.
The Quality Food Awards adds to the retailer’s impressive list of consumer and industry accolades. Earlier this year, Which? Magazine’s readers voted Aldi the UK’s No 3 supermarket; an endorsement that reflects public mood as more and more savvy, affluent customers start to vote for Aldi with their feet.
