25th February 2009 Print
Alara Wholefoods Ltd, one of the country’s biggest organic muesli producers, were the world’s first accredited organic cereal company, the first fair trade cereal company and have just become the first zero waste food business in the UK.

Their green accomplishments, alongside their pledge to become carbon neutral by 2010, helps set them up as a shining example of how it can be done.

As an extension to everything Alara does to be sustainable, they also decided to give you the opportunity to talk about environmental issues that they felt strongly about with the Alara Environmental Poetry Competition.

February this year saw the launch of this fantastic competition, supported by the ethical magazine Lifescape. The competition is about our environment – the beauty it holds, the problems that man has caused such as global warming, endangered species, pollution; what they mean to us, and what we can do to help.

If you like poetry or are concerned about these important environmental issues and would like to see other people’s views, then read their poems, vote for your favourite and help it win.

The winning poem will be published in Lifescape magazine (lifescapemag.com) and on Alara’s website, will win 2 cases of Alara’s fantastic Into the Garden muesli range and will be entered to an exclusive monthly winners Poem of the Year competition with a prize of £1000!

The competition is ongoing every month and everyone is welcome to read great poems, vote on your favourite, or submit your own at poems.alara.co.uk.
