Hot looks for a warmer winter

20th December 2006 Print
Honey1 - Hillarys “According to American research, around 20% of heat is lost through the window,” says Sarah Quilliam, head of product design at Hillarys. “As temperatures have significantly dropped over the last month, it’s worth thinking of a few ways to keep your home extra warm for winter.”

Honeycomb blinds are a new product that are very similar in appearance to normal pleated blinds. They offer the best energy efficiency of any window dressing currently available as the structure of the fabric traps air for maximum warmth. They’re great in halls which can often be a bit draughty or in a child’s bedroom where you can choose a cordless option for extra safety.

If you prefer a softer approach at your windows but still want to retain some heat, then opt for a fully lined Roman blind made out of cosy faux-fur. Monochromes are very popular at the moment and by using different textures and hues, you can transform a plain room into something that’s bang on trend.

Honeycomb blinds start at £64 (47cm wide x 60cm drop) measured, made and fitted. Roman blinds start at £89 (60cm wide x 75cm drop) measured, made and fitted.
