Store in style!

Debi Harris, of Porous, offers her top tips for Stylish Storage:
Storage really counts in the bedroom, and is usually the next biggest piece after the bed. Make it as discreet as possible, build in to any alcoves you have and use the full height of the room as storage
Store last seasons’ clothes in the higher reaches and make sure the things you want to wear are accessible
If you have high ceilings then invest in smart “pull down” rails that allow hanging space at high level
Be realistic – decide how to store your clothes before you begin -- for example, don’t make room for folded jumpers unless you are sure that you will do this every time you put one away!
Allow adequate space for accessories, belts, bags and scarves – they always take up far more room than you think.
Be wary of too much “open storage” – it can look very NY lofty – but it soon gets messy and it is easy for your clothes to get dusty and damaged
Soft closures on drawers are a good touch – you can get dressed without waking your partner!
All girls love shoes – making space for shoe boxes means you will always be able to find the pair you want – put a Polaroid on the front of each box for extra organised living
Tie and belt racks are perfect for the backs of doors
Look for quality construction – make sure the drawers are sturdy and have good quality runners
Accurately measure before you buy – it sounds obvious, but it is vital that every cm counts
Sliding doors are a good option if you are short of space and look modern in the right finish.
