Eco design meets health conscious tile

Strata Tiles, supplier of architectural tile solutions, have added the finishing touch to Mile End Leisure Centre one of the UK’s major ecologically designed, community, leisure centres.

Designed by leading architects Limbrick Ltd the development completed the final stage of the Mile End Park project. The centre provides the East End with more public sports facilities and being located within two miles of the Olympic Village, it will support the Olympic Games as a training complex.

The facility includes a wet health suite which, required hygiene promoting tiles to reduce the spread of water related disease and infections. Buchtal Plural mosaic tiles are treated with Hydrotect technology a revolutionary surface coating that have three special characteristics; they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect and eliminate disagreeable odours by improving air quality.

Strata tiles provided the flooring and wall tiles for the entire leisure centre development, including an eight lane swimming pool, separate learner pool with moveable floor and 80 station fitness suite.
