Picture House launches Kiara plasma TV fireplace at Grand Designs Live

Picture House will be unveiling the new patented compact Kiara marble plasma TV fireplace on stand L194 at the Grand Designs Live London ExCel Centre 8 to 10 June 2007. The plasma TV screen is completely hidden inside a fully working electric fireplace, which outputs 2kW of heat. Press the remote and the TV screen automatically lifts into view. Press it again and the screen magically disappears – now you see it, now you don’t!
The Kiara design is a smaller, more compact version of the larger plasma TV fireplaces produced by Picture House. It is blend of raw, rough stone and the elegance of highly polished marble with Romanesque columns at each end. You can use the remote to turn on the heat, adjust it, switch the fire on and off and even dim the brightness of the fire - all from the comfort of your armchair. No more messy wires and cables. It is freestanding, can be easily moved and doesn’t require a flue. The price is in the region of £4,000. There is a matching marble cabinet at £979 for your DVD equipment, which can be placed beside the fireplace.
David Free, Award winning furniture designer and inventor of the Picture House range of plasma fireplaces, who presents “The Great British Woodshop” TV programme on Discovery Real Time, says: “I’ve designed a new range of smaller designs to meet consumer demand. Designs like the Napoli and Mystic work well in larger rooms, but people were asking for a more compact version. A large black plasma TV tends to dominate a room and make it soulless. The plasma TV fireplace is a revolutionary new concept in home cinema design - a way of disguising the plasma TV as well as having a stylish, fully working fireplace at the same time.”
Also on the stand will be: the Napoli Petite white marble fireplace – with its striking lines, this piece is a true modern classic and the Mystic Petite, a luxurious black marble fireplace. Both these fireplaces are compact versions of the larger models.
Other designs on the stand will be the Award-winning “Beachcomber” (about £2,000) and the Tudor, a solid oak and marble plasma fireplace (about £4,000). Some fires are available with the option of pebbles, lava rock, woodland log or driftwood. All the fires are remote controlled, which means you can turn on the heat, adjust the heat, switch the fire on and off.
