Chelsea Art Fair returns for 2008

7th February 2008 Print
Chelsea Art Fair is renowned as an intimate fair featuring a fine selection of works from 1930 to the present, with an emphasis on Modern British art. Since its inception in 1996, it has built a strong reputation for both the quality and the diversity of the work, including contemporary art.

Building on the success of previous years, Penman Fairs are proud to have drawn together forty UK and international galleries to exhibit the work of leading artists for 2008. They are delighted to announce the participation of fourteen new galleries, ensuring 2008 will be a fresh event for new and loyal visitors alike.

The relaxed and personalised environment of the four day fair provides an excellent opportunity to see and buy a huge variety of work ranging from paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and ceramics by more than five hundred artists. Prices for work on display range from £50 to £30,000.

Highlights at Chelsea for 2008 include:

Artsrepublik
Artsrepublik are dedicated to Chinese contemporary art, representing emerging and established artists. Lei Zi Ren has an unusual technique of combining water colours and oils, and is one of the few living artists to have exhibited in the National Museum of Beijing. Other artists include Chun Hai, Jiang Chao, Wang Chun, Liu Fang and the controversial Cay Yi Lin.

Neville Contemporary Art
Neville Contemporary Art represent Paula Vize, who is gaining wide recognition for her passionate and quirky portrayal of the contemporary countryside. Other artists include architect-turned-artist Duncan Palmar, sculptor Daren Greenhow and recent graduate Millie McCallum.

Hanga Ten
Hanga Ten are the only gallery in Europe specialising exclusively in contemporary Japanese prints, including work with hand-printed woodblocks and work by Manishi Katsunori, a master of mezzotint. These original works of art, mostly hand-printed by the artists themselves, are strictly limited editions.
