Carpet revival for 2008

The ideas are completely affordable and range of textures style and colour mean there will be something to appeal to everyone.
To mark the resurgence Danielle is creating a quirky, themed, styled space that features six contrasting themed rooms. The Fun on the Floor house will demonstrate how carpet as a material can transform a home without costing the earth through a combination of texture, style and colour. Visitors can expect to explore the sensorial nature of carpet, appreciate its luxurious look and enjoy the fluffy feeling underfoot – not to mention appreciate its sound absorbing qualities.
Interior Designer Danielle Proud, spearheading the Fun on the Floor (funonthefloor.com) campaign comments:
“Many of this season’s carpet designs have a luxurious, handmade feel, which follows the fashion for individuality as the new luxury. Using carpet for “spotlight areas” in your home, such as bedrooms and snugs is a great way to add texture, a feeling of cosiness and comfort that makes the difference between a “house” and a “haven”.
“Carpet has always been a material that I love to incorporate within my designs, as it adds an element of style and warmth that goes beyond aesthetics. It’s one thing people always comment after they’ve been living in a room I’ve designed — even if initially they’d thought they wanted a different kind of flooring.”
The Fun on the Floor house will be open in July exclusively to media and then as a working showcase to consumers to explore options for their own home with on-hand expert advice.
