Graduating student designs space saving sofa system
Graduating design student Charles Bramwell has designed the perfect party sofa system designed to save space in modern homes. Charles, who graduates BA(Hons) Furniture with Product Design from De Montfort University in Leicester next week (14 July), has developed an adaptable seating system to address the ever-shrinking average room size in houses.Charles, 21, was brought up in Greece but has been based in the UK since coming to study at DMU and has researched the details of living accommodation in this country.
Charles said: "With shrinking house sizes in the UK, the average living room is little bigger than 18 metres square. This can often result in there not being enough suitable seating when entertaining guests.
"My system is made up of components that can be combined to create an ergonomically appropriate sofa of any size, which can be broken down to free up floor space whilst doubling the amount of seating."
Charles's work will be on display at the New Designers exhibition in London later this week (10-13 July).
New Designers is the leading event for the freshest talent in the design world and has been hailed by the Prime Minister as one of the most important exhibitions in London. See Newdesigners.com to find out more.
