Just Dock 'n' Roll with Alpine Electronics

Alpine Electronics, specialists in mobile media entertainment systems, announces the launch of 'Dock 'n' Roll' - the first of its kind in the industry. The Dock 'n' Roll package combines one of two of Alpine's Mobile Media Stations - the IVA-W205 or IVA-W505R - with the latest version of its Blackbird portable navigation system to create one integrated navigation solution.

Both the IVA-W205R and IVA-W505R are double DIN Mobile Media Stations, meaning they are twice the size of standard car radios. They are CD/DVD/MP3 capable and allow you to play your favourite DVDs, as well as connect and play music directly from your iPod. The IVA-W505R is also IMPRINT ready and allows you to play iPod movies via the unit and watch them on the high-resolution display. In addition, both units are Bluetooth enabled, offering hands-free calling which plays the callers voice through the vehicle's speakers.

Alpine's portable navigation system, the Blackbird, means you can take it with you where ever you go and it can easily be transferred from vehicle to vehicle. It offers a 4" wide touch screen display and built-in Bluetooth for hands-free mobile phone operation. The maps can be viewed in either 2D or 3D, and it offers three display modes - map, turn-by-turn and split screen. It can also be directly docked into the IVA-W205R and IVA-W505R.

The benefits of docking the Blackbird into the Mobile Media Stations include an increased size in the screen display from 4" to 6.5" (IVA-W205R) or 7" (IVA-W505R), making it easier to input and see destinations. As the unit is integrated into the dashboard, it reduces the glare from sunlight thus offering better visibility. In addition as the unit is docked in the Mobile Media Station, it eliminates cable clutter on the dash and is hidden from thieves. It also connects to an external GPS antenna providing a stronger signal for higher navigation accuracy.
