‘Insured and partner’ policy could save couples money this Valentine’s Day
Car insurance may not be the most romantic Valentine’s Day gift but, according to Privilege Insurance, by insuring your partner on your own policy you could save enough on your quote to treat them to something special come February 14th.Privilege, which specialises in insuring drivers with four years or more no claims discount, offers an ‘Insured and Partner’ option to customers enabling them to add the ‘other half’ to their insurance policy — potentially saving money in the process.
For example, a 38 year old professional man living in London SW2 and driving a Citroen Picasso could save as much as £47 by adding a female partner of a similar profile to his policy. A 37 year old woman living in Tonbridge Kent could save £21 by adding a male partner of similar profile.
Privilege’s ‘Insured and Partner’ policy is not restricted to married couples. Both partners must be over 25 and living at the same address but unlike some other insurers, Privilege offers the policy to both heterosexual and same-sex couples.
Privilege Insurance managing director, Ian Parker, comments: "In our experience, drivers taking the ‘Insured and Partner’ option represent a lower risk — perhaps because the responsibility of being in a long-term relationship translates into safer driving when behind the wheel. Whatever the reason, we are often able to offer a discount compared to ‘Insured Only Driving’ policies."
No claims discount (NCD) earned on an ‘Insured and Partner’ policy is transferable between parties so that both can benefit from their claims-free record in future, and any NCD earned can be mirrored on a second car policy with Privilege.
