Driving for Better Business means acting on CO2
RoadSafe is urging visitors to this year’s British International Motor Show to seek out the Department for Transport’s ACT ON CO2 stand in the Greener Driving Pavilion, where DfT staff will be on hand to offer advice on how fuel efficient driving and car choice can save money and reduce CO2.A first for The British International Motor Show, the Pavilion will feature interactive displays, vehicle cutaways and simulators. A range of exciting new environmental automotive technologies will also be showcased, including fuel cells, electric vehicles and hybrids. Drivers will be offered simple tips on ways they can make a difference to the environment and their bank balance.
RoadSafe manages the Government’s ‘Driving for Better Business’ programme, which is aimed at business leaders. The programme encourages businesses to share best practice on ‘driving for work’ issues and disseminates case studies to demonstrate the business benefits of managing safety. The programme dovetails with the DfT THINK road safety campaign and also includes complementary messages on how planning safer, sustainable travel can assist businesses in cutting vehicle emissions, reducing accidents and ultimately lowering running costs.
The programme is widely supported throughout industry and runs in parallel with a number of other DfT initiatives, including SaFED and the National Business Travel Network.
Programme Manager Caroline Scurr said: “Cutting fuel costs and lowering CO2 emissions are hot topics for motorists and businesses alike, which is why we’re delighted to see the Government’s ACT ON CO2 campaign featured at this year’s Motor Show. A large number of the vehicles on display at the Show boast ‘green’ credentials, which is clearly very important for the consumer.”
