The return of the fitter: This time you’ll be amazed
There are no dance routines, jaunty jingles and not a jumpsuit in sight - but nevertheless the Kwik-Fit fitter is set to burst back onto television sets this evening - after the company responded to customer requests to bring back one of Britain’s most loved advertising icons.Amazingly, it’s been nearly a quarter of a century since the legendary Kwik-Fit fitter first landed in our living rooms on September 11th, 1984. The company says that the fitter has grown up during his absence and that he now represents the face of a new Kwik-Fit.
The fitter’s latest mission (which he has chosen to accept) is to highlight the increased technical expertise and broader product offering available at a modern day Kwik-Fit - such as its MOT and servicing capabilities. Crucially however, he still retains the same approachable sense of humour that customers may recall.
The fly-on-the-wall style adverts pay homage to the talents of Kwik-Fit’s dedicated fitters, who - when asked what else they can do - take the opportunity to ‘amaze’ customers with an impressive (but slightly leftfield) talent. Each advert signs off with the line "Kwik-Fit. You'll be amazed at what we do".
Chris Bosworth, Business Development & Marketing Director: "The Kwik-Fit fitter became something of a TV institution and so we felt it was the right time to bring our people back to the screen to show how Kwik-Fit has moved on.”
He continued: “While the modern day fitters do not sing and dance - they do have a few other interesting things up their sleeves - and we hope that customers will warm to them in the same way as they did in the 80s when the original campaign was born.”
There are seven TV adverts in the campaign which breaks on August 18th. The adverts were written and art directed by Dave Henderson and Richard Denney of DDBLondon, and directed by Andy McLeod out of Rattling Stick. Images for national press were shot by Spiros Politis out of Agent Orange. Media is bought by Mediacom.
