Manheim Auctions Prestige Sales exceed £2.5 million

The three Prestige Sales held at Manheim Auctions, Colchester this year have resulted in the sale of vehicles worth £2.7 million. In the current economic climate it would be reasonable to expect a downturn in the sale of prestige cars, however with over 300 buyers in attendance at the last auction in July and bidding reaching heights comparable with works of art, Manheim Auctions Prestige Sale is now one of the leading sales in the auction calendar.

In March at Manheim’s Colchester Auction Centre, a McLaren Mercedes SLR achieved a record price for Manheim Auctions in Europe when it was sold for £160,500 at the first Prestige Sale held at the four lane facility. In May the record was broken again when another McLaren Mercedes SLR sold for £187,000.

Chris Cush, General Manager of Manheim Auctions, Colchester said: “These auctions are always very exciting especially when cars such as an Audi R8, Bentley Flying Spur, McLaren Mercedes or Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead come into view. To have broken the price record twice already this year has exceeded our expectations.”

The two remaining Prestige Sales of the year at Colchester are on 9th September and 4th November.
