A1GP season review DVD released as first team test takes place Fans of A1GP World Cup of Motorsport can now re-live the highs and lows of what has been the closest title race to date with the release of a special two disc DVD set of the 2007/08 season.

These cover highlights of the action right from the start of the season, in front of the lively, partisan Dutch crowd at the Zandvoort track in October 2007, to the equally lively, and equally partisan crowd at Brands Hatch for the season finale in the UK in May 2008. They chart the rise and fall in fortunes of several teams that led to the crowning of A1 Team Switzerland as champion at the last race.

Ten different teams stood on the top step of the podium, while for India, Ireland and the USA maiden wins were celebrated. There is revealing behind the scenes footage, pit to car radio conversations and also the thoughts of the series’ world feed commentator, ex-Formula 1 driver, John Watson. Included in these two DVDs will be previously unseen footage as well as driver interviews and a close look at the technical side of the series.

This can be purchased via a1gp.com with a special pre-order saving of 25%. The release date is 13 October.

Team testing also got underway at Donington Park today with heavy rain delaying the start of running. A1 Team Netherlands were the first to emerge for an exploratory lap with Adrian Zaugg giving the A1 Team South Africa car a shakedown. John Martin was in the A1 Team Australia car while Edoardo Piscopo was in action for A1 Team Italy. The A1GP test car, which has now completed 7,446-kilometres testing, was also out on track with Thomas Biagi at the wheel. Fairuz Fauzy ended the day quickest for A1 Team Malaysia, despite the bad conditions, posting a time of 1m 35.250s in the new Powered by Ferrari car.

Fauzy commented: “This morning we did an installation lap and everything was fine with no problems. The car was very reliable which was surprising straight out the box, so that is a positive sign for us. It’s a totally different car to last year, especially with the Michelin tyres, carbon brakes, higher downforce and more powerful engine. It was fun to drive. I was very impressed with the downforce of the car and the grip in the wet.”
