DVLA opens its closet

14th September 2008 Print

From Britain’s gay and Asian communities to bikers and even fans of The Stig, it’s safe to say DVLA Personalised Registrations’ auction at the Haycock Hotel, Wansford, Cambridgeshire, could attract an eclectic mix of bidders when their latest collection of private plates goes under the hammer between 24 and 26 September.

Amongst the diverse range of registrations available is ‘2 GAY’, which features alongside potentially high profile plates such as ‘ROS 551’ – likely to attract bikers wanting to pay homage to Moto GP hero Valentino Rossi – and ‘THE 571G’, which could prove popular with Top Gear fans.

Other notable personalised registrations going under the auctioneers’ hammer include ‘TAB 101D’ and ‘OO07 DBS’ while ‘BOR 11S’ may shine on London Mayor Boris Johnson’s car and, for romantics, there’s ‘KUP 1D’.

With ‘51 NGH’ fetching £254,000 in April 2006, DVLA Personalised Registrations is anticipating considerable interest in other registrations that could relate to Asian names including ‘HH51 NGH’, ‘V551 NGH’, ‘27 RAJ’, ‘X3 NAS’, ‘DAV 3X’ and ‘GUP IE’.

In all, 1,500 personalised registrations will be sold over the three days. For more information log onto to dvlaregistrations.co.uk/auction
