ReMIT gains major contracts and increases student numbers

30th September 2008 Print
ReMIT, the training arm of the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) has increased its student numbers by a third in under six months, and gained contracts with a range of major motor industry players including Pendragon PLC, Europe’s largest motor dealer group.

ReMIT re–launched it’s apprenticeship programmes for automotive technicians and aftersales personnel in May 2008, and student numbers have increased from 1,900 to almost 3,000 during the period.

ReMIT now provides apprenticeship training programmes for Raytheon Group, Piaggio Group, Kumho Tyres, and Pendragon PLC, including the brands of Stratstone, Evans Halshaw and Chatfield’s, the heavy vehicle retailer.

Rob Foulston, ReMIT Chief Executive commented: ‘ReMIT’s programmes provide a significantly more cost effective model compared to the manufacturer’s branded programmes. Previously, the latter has been the primary route for apprentices in the motor retail sector. Our delivery model represents a significant departure from this norm and during this difficult economic climate it becomes critical that apprentices have transferable skills across all the various franchises.’

Foulston continues: ‘Our growth is down to three key factors; first, the entire ReMIT team who have done a remarkable job in supporting and developing the business. Second, our customers who have remained understanding and loyal to the ReMIT brand. The third is our students, who have continued to put their future safely in our hands.’
