Three in a row target for MPG Marathon

1st October 2008 Print
The winner of the last two MPG Marathon events, James Sutherland is confident of making it three in a row when this year’s event kicks off from Bristol next Wednesday, 8th October.

The 400 mile economy challenge takes competitors on a route from Bristol to Macclesfield and back and is a demanding test of both car and driver. This year’s event has attracted a record number of entries and competition is going to be tough and hard fought. James Sutherland, managing director of Peak Performance, the UK’s leading driver training and risk managements solutions provider, has chalked up two wins in a Toyota Aygo, a diesel model in 2006 and a petrol engine model last year.

“In 2007, we managed 79.4 mpg against a combined figure of 61.4 mpg in a 1.0 litre petrol Aygo” said James, “this year we will be pushing to top 80 mpg although the route is always challenging”. James will once again be partnered by co-driver Richard Hill, a fellow director at Peak Performance and a veteran of economy driving challenges.

The MPG Marathon is organised by publishing company Fleet World Group and is recognised as the UK’s premier economy driving event and enjoys support from TomTom WORK, the AA, tiscali, Michelin, Energy Saving Trust, Act On CO2 and Lysanda.
