Motor World back on track
A building that was almost destroyed by fire two years ago is being rebuilt at a cost in the region of £500,000.A shop and offices at 51 Northbrook Street in the centre of Newbury were substantially damaged and parts destroyed by a fire that swept through the building. Car parts and accessories business Motor World is expected to move back in on completion of the work.
The commercial building surveying department at Dreweatt Neate is project managing the re-development which will create four new flats on the first and second floors as well as the ground floor shop.
Garry Marshall, Associate Partner, said: “We have been involved in lengthy and complex negotiations with the building insurers, planners, listed building department and owners and we are delighted to say that work is now underway to restore and rebuild the property.”
The project is due for completion at the end of October 2007 when the flats will come on the market to let.
