Chancellors swap pinstripe suits for tracksuits on 10km run for Mencap!
On Sunday 1st July 18 employees of Chancellors Estate Agents will be swapping their pinstripe suits for tracksuits as they participate in a 10k Run in support of West Berkshire Mencap. As a local charity, West Berkshire Mencap provides services to improve the lives and opportunities for people with a learning disability, to enable them to fulfil their potential in life. This could vary from providing sports, leisure and drama activities, through to finding suitable employment and developing independent living skills.
All 18 runners volunteered to put their bodies on the line in the name of charity, and the group represents an excellent cross section of the company. The team includes Directors, Area Managers, Negotiators and Property Management staff. Their running experiences range from complete novices to seasoned marathon runners.
Chancellors’ involvement in the event, to be held in London’s Hyde Park, is being coordinated by Samantha Harper, who said, “I received an amazing response from my colleagues initially and West Berkshire Mencap have been overwhelmed with the support from everyone at Chancellors. Considering we are one of the largest independent agents in the country, I think it is fantastic to discover such team spirit from across the company. I’d personally like to give a huge thanks to all the runners involved for making this happen and for their commitment. I wish them all the luck and energy on the day! I am proud that we have shown how important our local community is to us.”
One Chancellors runner, Andrew Walker, commented, “We are delighted to be running for such a fantastic cause. The training has been a bit of a shock to the system but I have enjoyed using my negotiation skills to secure some very generous donations!”
Gill Leech from West Berkshire Mencap said, “We have received tremendous support from Chancellors to run the London 10k and raise funds for West Berkshire Mencap. We are fundraising for a much needed soft play room where children can burn off their excess energy in a safe and soft environment. A big thank you to everyone taking part, your support will make a real difference.”
Having twice been voted the UK’s best estate agent, notably with their recent Cartus Cup victory from Home Sale Network, Chancellors have enjoyed professional success in the last year. They now hope to achieve some sporting success and raise important funds for a worthy charity in the process.
